I am leading the cxful design system project. Here is my input.
After using many design systems out there, I found:
1. Most of them are applications-first
2. Websites are built upon the left-over of the application UIUX kit and design system
3. Website is treated as landing/marketing pages limited to certain templates and blog
4. Design foundation, typography, and tokens are not suitable for the website's use-case
5. They are limited to beauty and looks rather than function
Most importantly, they are incomplete and limited to replacing lorem-ipsum and mockup images. It could help freelancers and beginners deliver projects fast, but such websites often cannot produce results.
If so, what's the point of custom design, why don't we use themes and templates?
Every input is a valuable resource for the team.
